Digging Deep for Lifeline Gippsland
December 2, 2016Every year on the Friday prior to Christmas Day Bob Knight, John Beckman, Laina Zajarski, Pina McCafferty and Gary Honeychurch help light the barbecues for the annual Hazelwood Miner’s Breakfast.
The group generously purchase all bread, eggs, bacon, juices and coffee to serve Hazelwood workers a tasty, warm breakfast for a gold coin donation. This initiative was also supported Woolworths manager Jones DeGroot in Churchill who provided a 50% discount on bread, eggs and juice. Mick Bink from Cando Hire supplied the generator.
The all-time production record of 280 egg & bacon sandwiches resulted in an amazing record donation of $869.00.
Upon hearing that funds raised were to go to Lifeline Gippsland, Shane & Kylie from N.C Oliver Family Meats at Midvalley Shopping Centre kindly donated 15 kg of bacon, which increased the total amount raised to $1009.00!
“It was fantastic to see that in challenging times and with an uncertain future, all were happy to dig deep to help out a local charity that supports people in need”, said Gary Honeychurch.
On behalf of Lifeline Gippsland, Corporate Trainer Marisca Seinen gratefully accepted the funds raised, which will to go towards the continued support of the 13 11 14 Crisis Support Service at Lifeline Gippsland.
