Suicide rates increase with increases in remoteness; this means that East Gippsland and Wellington possibly experience some vulnerability to suicide relating to greater distance from main population centers.

Yesterday we closed the doors of our Sale Op Shop – 26.2.26, marking the end of an important chapter for our Sale Op Shop. We want to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you to our community.
To everyone who donated, shopped, volunteered, shared a kind word, or simply supported us over the years — thank you. This shop has been more than a storefront; it has been a place of connection, generosity and care, made possible by the people of Sale and the wider Gippsland community.
We are especially grateful to our volunteers and staff, past and present, who gave their time, energy and hearts to this space. Your contribution has made a real difference, and yesterday and today we acknowledge that with deep appreciation.
While it’s never easy to say goodbye, we leave with gratitude for what this shop has represented and the impact it has had. The support shown here continues to strengthen our mission and our continued work across the region.
